Most boarding barns lose money they already earned
Extra feed gets added to a horse's bin and forgotten. A farrier visit gets booked and never billed. A boarder's autopay fails and nobody notices for three weeks. The work happens. The money doesn't follow. Spreadsheets, paper notes, and text threads keep the barn moving, but they leak revenue every month.
From the work in the barn to the money in your account
Staff check off feedings, turnout, blanketing, medications, and extras as they happen. Each entry stays tied to the horse and the owner.
Billable services flow into a draft invoice the moment they're recorded. Board, add-ons, and one-off charges all land in the same place.
Review, send, and collect. Boarders pay online. Autopay handles recurring board. You see what's paid, what's late, and what to chase.
Everything a boarding barn actually needs, in one place
Built around the work you already do. No setup gymnastics, no piecing together five tools.
A simple check-off for feedings, turnout, medications, and supplements. Staff use it from their phone in the aisle.
See who's where, what's empty, and what each stall is bringing in. Move-ins and move-outs take a tap, not a spreadsheet update.
Recurring board, one-off charges, and care add-ons on one invoice. Send by email or have it pull on autopay.
Card and ACH. Boarders pay through a link. Failed payments and overdue balances show up the day they happen.
Coggins, vaccinations, vet notes, farrier history, boarding agreements, waivers. Stored by horse and owner. Searchable.
Boarders see care, invoices, payment history, and signed documents in their own portal. Fewer texts. Fewer phone calls. Fewer questions.
What changes when the barn runs on Stables horse boarding software
Your boarders, farriers, trainers, and vets are already on the platform
A barn isn't an island. Every horse has an owner, a farrier, a vet, and a few service providers passing through. Stables connects them so records, schedules, and billing don't fall apart between calls.
Boarders get a portal for care updates, invoices, payments, and signed documents. Cuts down on the texts you'd otherwise field at 9 p.m.
Farriers schedule visits, log work, and bill clients directly. Their notes show up on the horse's record without anyone copying them over.
Lessons, packages, and schedules in the same place as the horse. Boarders see one bill, not three.
Free to start. You pay when you get paid.
No setup fee, no monthly minimum, no per-stall charge. When a boarder pays you through Stables, a transaction fee comes off the top. That's it. Bring the platform in for a month and see if it works.
Questions barn owners ask before signing up
How long does setup take?
Most barns are running on Stables within a day. You add horses, stalls, and boarders, set your board amounts, and you're invoicing. Importing from a spreadsheet works. Migrating from another platform takes a bit longer depending on what's coming over.
What does it actually cost?
The platform is free to use. Stables takes a transaction fee on payments processed through it. There's no per-stall charge, no monthly subscription floor, and no setup fee. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
Do my boarders have to download an app?
No. Boarders get an email link to a web portal. They can save it to their phone home screen if they want, but there's nothing to install.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Your data is yours. Records, invoices, and payment history export to CSV at any time. There's no contract holding you in.
Can I run lessons, training, and farrier work through it too?
Yes. Boarders see one consolidated invoice. Trainers, farriers, and other providers can bill their own clients through their own accounts if you'd rather keep books separate.
Does it replace QuickBooks?
Not for full accounting. Stables handles invoicing, payments, and operational billing. Use QuickBooks or your accountant for bookkeeping, payroll, and taxes. Exports are clean enough to hand over.
Is my barn too small for this?
If you board even a handful of horses, the math probably works. Most missed charges happen at small barns where the owner is also the manager and the lessons instructor. Free to start, so try it.
What about security deposits and one-time charges?
Both supported. Security deposits are held and tracked separately from board. One-time charges (a vet visit, a bag of grain, a holiday boarding fee) get added to the next invoice or sent on their own.
Stop chasing charges. Start running the barn.
