Setting up lesson types

Everything about lessons starts with a lesson type. Create them on the Lessons tab, under the Lesson types card - select New Lesson Type (just New on a phone). Existing types are edited in place with Edit. A lesson type is a facility service, so it also appears under Settings → Services with the rest of what you bill for.

What you fill in

• Lesson type name - what you call it, like “Group Lesson” or “Private Jumping”.
• Kind of lesson - Riding Lessons or Horse Training. These are the only two categories that get lesson settings; a service in any other category is billed like a normal service and is never asked how many riders fit.
• Price per rider - each rider is charged this when the lesson is completed.
• Length (min) - between 5 and 480 minutes. A lesson you schedule gets this length automatically.
• Max riders - between 1 and 100. One rider is a private lesson; more than one makes it a group.
• Instructor (optional) - a staff member, or leave it on “Any staff member”.
• Who brings the horse - Rider brings a horse, The barn provides a horse, or Either.
• Clients can book this online - puts this type on your public page.

Each type’s row summarizes itself the same way everywhere: “45 min · up to 5 riders · $45.00”, with a badge reading Bookable or Staff only.

Who brings the horse

This decides what the booking form asks. “Rider brings a horse” requires a horse’s name before a booking can go through. “The barn provides a horse” asks nothing - you assign one of your horses on the roster afterwards. “Either” asks, but doesn’t insist.
