Creating a training program

Start from a saved template, from blank, or have Stables AI draft it from your goal - all three create a draft you review first.

Select New program. The form offers three ways in — Template, Blank and AI - and every one of them creates a draft. Nothing reaches the care queue until you start it.

Template

Pick a saved template, a horse and a start date, and the whole plan lands on real dates. Optionally rename it; otherwise it takes the template’s name. This is the fastest path once you have built a plan you like.

Blank

Give it a name (“Spring legging up”), an optional goal (“Back to full work after winter”), and a length in weeks between 1 and 52. You get an empty calendar to fill in day by day - see Building a training session.

AI

Describe the goal in plain words - “Bring Bella back to full work after 8 weeks off, 5 days a week, jumping focus” - and optionally say how many weeks and how many days per week. Stables AI drafts every session for your review. Drafting can take up to 30 seconds.

⚠️

An AI draft is a proposal, not a plan

The program carries a banner until you start it: review every session first. Your veterinarian’s guidance overrides the plan, always.

Defaults you can set up front

  • Price per session - copied onto every session in the draft. Leave it blank if training is not billed per session. Any single session’s price can be changed afterwards.
  • Assign to - a staff member, or leave it on “Anyone on the team”. Facilities only; a provider’s program is already their own work.

Horse owners planning their own horse see neither field - there is nobody to bill and nobody to assign.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do templates come from?
You save them. Build a program once, then choose “Save as template” from its actions menu, and it appears in the Template tab next time. Templates belong to whoever saved them — a trainer’s saved plans are theirs, not the barn’s.
Which horses can I pick?
A facility picks from its own horses, a provider from the horses they have access to, and an owner from their own.
