Categorizing expenses
Categories keep money-out reporting useful - owners pick from a fixed list, facilities can add their own.
Owner expense categories
When logging a personal expense, choose from: Board, Training / Lessons, Vet / Medical, Farrier, Feed / Supplements, Tack / Equipment, Shows / Competition, Insurance, or Other (Other asks for a description).
Facility bill categories
Bills use your facility’s own category list - every line item on a bill gets one. If nothing fits, use Add custom category right from the category picker to create your own.
Where categories pay off
Finances → Reports includes an expense view that breaks spending down by category - consistent categorization is what makes it meaningful.
Categorize as you go
It’s much easier to pick the right category when recording the bill than to clean up months of “Other” at tax time.
