About Sycamore Canyon Stables
Sycamore Canyon Stables offers horse boarding, riding lessons, and training in Poway, California, combining a quiet valley setting with facilities for English and Western riders. The San Diego County property is also home to owners Dwight and Cindi Greene, who emphasize a relaxed environment where horse owners can enjoy their time at the barn.
Boarding accommodations include enclosed barn stalls, open pipe stalls, and spacious pipe pens with full or partial shelter. The enclosed barn features 12-by-16-foot stalls with automatic waterers, temperature-controlled fans, and pine-shaving bedding, plus a covered area for tacking up. Larger outdoor accommodations include 24-by-24-foot pens, giving owners several housing options to consider for their horses.
For schooling and exercise, riders have access to a lighted 150-by-300-foot main arena, a separate 150-by-150-foot arena, and a 55-foot round pen. A full-size dressage arena features mirrors and lighting for evening rides. Access to miles of trails adds variety beyond arena work, making the property an option for owners who enjoy both structured training and recreational riding.
Horse care services include weighed hay portions, feeding of owner-provided supplements, and nightly checks. Available hay varieties include alfalfa, Bermuda, and orchard grass. Owners can also arrange winter blanketing, turnout, and longeing services, while on-site trailer parking supports those who travel with their horses. Veterinary health-check clinics are scheduled twice a year.
Riding instruction spans dressage, Western horsemanship, and ranch riding, with programs serving beginners through advanced riders. JNB Dressage offers horse and rider development through upper-level dressage, while Elements Equine Bodyworks focuses on Western riding, foundational training, and balanced movement. Lessons and clinics complement the boarding facilities, bringing horse care and rider development together at this Poway equestrian property.
