About Rancho El Camino Equestrian Horse Boarding and Lessons
At Rancho El Camino Children’s Riding School, horseback riding is about more than time in the saddle. For over 20 years, this Del Mar riding school has introduced children to the rewards of working with horses, combining riding instruction with lessons in compassion, responsibility, and trust.
Children participate in the everyday care that helps build a connection between horse and rider. Grooming, saddling, and learning to recognize each horse’s personality are part of the experience. In a relaxed environment, instructors teach foundational riding skills, proper position, and thoughtful handling to help young riders become more capable and comfortable around horses.
The school supports children with a range of riding goals, from enjoying an ongoing recreational activity to developing a foundation for more advanced equestrian pursuits. Families whose children are ready to progress beyond the school’s program can receive guidance on opportunities to continue their riding education.
Alongside children’s horseback riding lessons, Rancho El Camino offers summer horse camps, horse-themed birthday parties, and activities for Girl Scout troops. These programs create additional opportunities to practice horsemanship and enjoy hands-on experiences with horses.
Located off Old El Camino Real in Del Mar, California, the school welcomes families to visit, meet the horses, and speak with instructors about their child’s interests and riding goals.
